Mopar Muscle
Whenever the topic of American Muscle arises, Mopars like Rick L.’s ‘68 Charger are in the forefront. One like it was made famous as General Lee in the “Dukes of Hazard.” Rick has had four Chargers of this body style through the years and the one before this one was an R/T version with a 440 CID engine. It was stolen and burned by punks unknown, so Rick devoted his efforts to this Green Meanie.
He pulled its 318 CID engine and dropped in a big block 383 CID, modified for more horsepower, of course. Rick is a professional mechanic, so he has done all of the modifications to the engine, transmission, brakes and suspension that make this Mopar a macho Motor City mover. This is not to say this bad boy doesn’t have a pretty side. New paint and upholstery have had a part in getting Rick a number of trophies, with his favorite being first place at the Mopar Day at the Park in Sacramento. There, he competed against only other Mopars, and a number of the “trailer queens,” i.e. cars that are trailered to the shows and never driven on the road. But Rick’s Charger is a king, king of the road.
The muscle behind Rick's Mopar is a 383 engine, with 10:1 compression and bored .040 over.
Rick’s Charger is an awesome road car, with modified suspension and added disc brakes.
