With a Little Help
When Ray and Tina bought their ‘36 Ford coupe, it needed
more than a little help. Although the previous owner had started
to build it as a street rod, with a Chevy 283 CID engine, Turbo 350
auto trans and Ford 8" rear end, it was not very far along.
Some of what had been done had not been done right (such as an improperly-boxed
frame). Still, it was the same year and model as the first car Ray
had owned, so he was willing to take on the task. As a long-time
Roamin Angel and past president of the club, he knew the right people
to help him. First it went to Lanmark Auto for some work. Lee’s Metal
Works adapted a ‘40 Ford dash. Bob D., Bill B. and John
Q. did their magic with the wiring. Bob (SOB) M. helped keep things
cool with the air conditioning. Gin’s Little Valley Auto Care and
Hopper’s Hot Rod Garage took care of many, many loose ends. Then
Van’s Auto Body Shop created a masterpiece of candy tangerine over
silver metalflake. Finally Sierra Custom Auto Upholstery fitted the
interior in leather comfort. Roamin Angels all. Along the way, the
engine and trans were gone through and a Mustang II front suspension
with disc brakes was added. After seven years, the Ford was on the
road. And it was done with a little help from their friends. Roamin
Angel friends.
