October Events Highlighted by Mr. Cruise

The days are getting shorter. It seems like just a week ago or so the sun was up long before Friday breakfast started. Lately we get up to cool, star filled early mornings. 2011 is coming to a close.

Event planning meeting Oct. 15As we wind down it's time to think about 2012 fun and cruises. On Saturday October 15th we'll hold the annual event planning meeting at the Pilot Peak Winery starting at 12:30pm. I'd allow 2 hours or so for the meeting. Yes, this is the same meeting that's previously happened after the first of the year. This year the idea is to get the jump on things.

The winery is located at 12888 Spenceville Rd. Hwy 20 to Penn Valley. Exit at Penn Valley Dr (1st light) and head South. Penn Valley Dr turns into Spenceville Rd. From the exit off Hwy 20 it's about 4-5 miles. 432-3321 if you get lost. It'll be a perfect day to drive the classic.

Everyone is welcome. Bring your ideas….and….
If your last name is;
A - D Bring a salad
E - I An appetizer
J – N Side Dish
O – Z Dessert
Bring enough to feed 6-8 people in what ever category you fall. His Cruiseness will be supplying the protein portion of your excellent adventure, a tasty Peach Chutney glazed chicken. We'll have some surprises…it is a winery you know.

The Mystery Cruise, and Geezer PIK NIK also take place in October. The Mystery Cruise is booked solid …and still a mystery…

The Geezer Pik Nik honors all our members who have reached the reasoned age of 70. This year It's the Geezer PIK NIK / October Fest. It's open to all members …geezer or otherwise. It will be held October 22nd at Condon Park from 11am – 3pm. It's all free with the club providing Tri Tip as the main course… beer, wine and soft drinks as well. The rest of the meal is pot luck. See the above instructions for your pot luck assignments. Don needs about 6 volunteers to help. Call him ASAP.

Mike C. is ready for you Tuesday evening 10/11 night at Mel's and George 10/5 and 19th Wednesdays for Pizza.

Thursday October 27th prepare to catch up on the Hauntings of Downtown Grass Valley. Call your buds and set up your own dinner party or have one at home. We'll all meet at the Holbrooke Bar and start the tour at 7pm. Toffanellis' invites us for dessert when we're done .Their pastry chef is cooking up some special Halloween treats. $10 per head for the Tour guided by Mark Lyon, the man who knows ghosts. RSVP Sandy Carrion or sign up on the normal passed boards.

NEXT GENERAL MEETING
October 24, 2011, 6pm
Salvation Army, Grass Valley

President TerryPresident's message
The Roamin Angels enjoyed another GREAT SEPTEMBER!!!

Around 650 classic cars, hot rods, custom cars and trucks roared into the Nevada County Fairgrounds for the 12th Annual "Cruisin' the Pines" Car Show. The list of Angels that made this show a success is way too long and I would for sure forget at least half of them. Thane, Duke and all of their committee chairpersons certainly got their collective oars in the water pulling together to organize and execute what has become known as the "best little car show" in Northern California. Thanks to everyone who dedicated the countless hours that it took to make "Cruisin' the Pines -12" a fun and successful event for all of the participants and spectators.

If we set the revenue generated by each year's "Cruisin' the Pines" Car Show aside, this Roamin Angels event has become an important element of the yearly Western Nevada County entertainment schedule. It is also an anticipated event for many hot rod and classic car hobbyists. For these reasons alone, the car show has become a part of our culture as a car club and as an active, involved member of our community. The only way that the Club can continue producing "Cruisin' the Pines", however, is with the TOTAL SUPPORT and COMMITMENT from the membership to do so. There will be more on this topic in the coming months.

On September 13th 27 Angels together with 10 of their friends and relatives climbed aboard the Carnival Spirit in Seattle for a 7-day Alaskan adventure and needless to say, a great time was had by all. The food, wine, and drinks of the day were plentiful, tasty and refreshing. The 3 ports of call were beautiful, interesting and full of fun things to do. Glacier Bay was breathtakingly beautiful and the stage shows on the ship were spectacular. But, in my opinion it was the group getting together for dinner at 5:30 every evening where you could listen to the stories of that day's sights and adventures and then watch Bob and his daughter Kerry, Landon, Geo, Karen, Kathy and several others get up and dance with the waiters, that was priceless. The jokes; the stories; the "Did you see the whales today?"; the laughter; the fun of being together doing something new and different; that's what made this trip yet another unforgettable Roamin Angel event.

October will be another busy month. There will be the usual weekly breakfast meetings, pizza night meetings, cruise night at Mel's and general meeting. The highlight will be the much anticipated Mystery Tour on the 8th and 9th followed on the 15th with a special event planning pot-luck meeting. We will wrap up the month with a mini-car show at Auburn Oaks Convalescent Home on the 20th , an October Fest Party on the 22nd and a Spocktacular Tour of Grass Valley on the 27th. Enough said – Cruise Safe – Have a Great October.

SEE YA ON THE FLIP SIDE,

TERRY
