This event was put on by the WCRAA, the West Capital Raceway Alumni Association, who's president Bob Wise is also a member of the Roamin Angels. Bob and I were talking about the event and it sounded like fun.
After breakfast, a group of eight of us left IHOP about 8am and got down to the Roseville Raceway a little after 9. They were still setting up but we wandered around, bought some raffle tickets and found some picnic benches to sit at to watch the goings on.
About 10:00, they lined up the vintage race cars from the 40's to the 70's so we went to check those out. It's amazing that seeing the gear that say, the Nascar drivers wear, that any of these guys ever survived!
About noon they started the Outback BBQ and some of us waited until the line went down a bit. There was a lot of really good food and you got to take as much as your plate could hold. It was very good and we all enjoyed it. Afterwards they held their awards ceremony and did the raffle prizes. David and I won a couple of prizes which made it more fun.
About 4 we made our way into the grandstands and watch the cars 'warm up' on the track. At 5:00, the races started. It was fun watching the various types of cars race including the vintage cars from the 50's. David & I placed bets on who was going to win...I'm not saying who won. Although it was a long day, we all enjoyed the beautiful weather and great company.
