We met April 15th at Ted's house. Terry E. was there as the Board's liaison. He provided a list of questions that the Board wanted addressed. Because this ad hoc committee is just getting started, we decided it was time to meet with a corporate/tax type attorney.
Three of us met with attorney Stephen Haas on the 23rd of April. The main subject was how to successfully fund a building fund while keeping the integrity of our 501-C7 non-profit status. Mr. Haas answered all of our questions and suggested a couple of ways to accomplish our goals.
At our next meeting, we hope to start laying out the different pros and cons of having a 'club house'. - Larry E.
BUILDING COMMITTEE - FOOTNOTE
By Terry E., Roamin Angels VP
One of the primary responsibilities that I have as Club Vice President is to attend and participate in all ad hoc committee meetings that a Board member is not already assigned to. For example, the Scholarship Committee is chaired by Board member Ron N. so my participation is not required.
In March, the Building Feasibility Committee meeting was attended by President Ron C. as I was down with the mother lode of all head colds. Having recovered, I attended the April meeting at Ted C.'s home. My job is to observe and report back to the Board each month on the progress of the committee and to obtain both the guidance and resources from the Board as needed to help keep this Committee on track and moving forward.
As previously reported, this endeavor is very complex and will probably take many months of diligent research, analysis and plain hard work before these 8 dedicated Roamin Angels can obtain the necessary answers, resolve the many issues and put together a comprehensive report to the Board. After the Board has reviewed and approved this report it will be presented to the entire Club membership for their review and feedback. Before any definitive action can be taken by the Board it will require an advisory up or down vote by the Membership.
I am very glad to be a small part of this enterprise and look forward to working with this great group of Angels on a mission.
