First thing I need to do is get the name of this position changed.

Actually, I really didn’t know what it was called when I took the job. “Keeper of the Calendar”? “Directorate of Details?

Then I looked at the RA WEB site and discovered it was “Activities Director”.

You know, when Aunt Ruby was living at the “Home” as she called it, they had an “Activities Director”. Doesn’t really conjure the vibrant image I had envisioned for the Roamin Angels. More like mush and Depends.

So officially or not this position shall be known in my tenure as “Cruis’in Director”. AH…brings back those memories of doing 4th street in Marin Friday evenings in the ’58 T bird with the top down. That’s what I’m talking about!

We’re working on some great adventures for 2011. Because we’re in the transition period at this writing the adventures and calendar are not yet set in bondo. I’m also working with Diane on doing some really cool cruis’in stuff on our WEB site. More Details on all those in next month’s column and at the month’s various meetings.

I can tell you that March brings the MacAnnaly garage tour on March 23rd and the first potluck and game night at Salvation Army March 26. Then April kicks up the fun. Aside from the Tuesday Trips to Mel’s and Wednesday Pizza Nights at Round Table, April 9th is the Buzzards Garage Tour, April 16 is Race night at the All American Raceway with a Riebe’s hosted dinner, and lastly April 3oth is the GV Downtown Car show and later Pot Luck dinner at Salvation Army .

Here’s what you need to know for now.

1. I’ll be looking for some cruis’in leaders. Won’t take much except maybe a map and sense of direction. You can do it.
2. Remember to wear your RA gear. Sell us every chance you get. Call Larry if you need some.
3. Every cruise is the opportunity to bring a potential memberor “shy” (Roamin Angel…no can’t be) current member. Reach out.
4. Have fun! Soon enough you might be in that ”home” with an “activities director” like Nurse Ratchet…..time to bust out now!
