from
RON, THE PRESIDENT
With “election fever” being nothing but a memory, we are ready to move forward to address those issues that confront us and might divide us. With a president, a vice-president and all the other staff necessary to confront the problems ahead, we see a new hope for the future. Nah, I’m not talking about the United States, I’m talking about the Roamin Angels. However, unlike the nation, the club did not get a change of president. Sorry folks, I’m here for another year. Fear not, though, this too shall pass.
So, did you make the Annual Meeting? If you did, hope you enjoyed it. Yes, the pizza did run out. Two years ago, we ordered thirty pizzas and, with coaxing, all of them were eaten. Last year, we increased to thirty-two and had five whole pizzas left over. This year, wanting to be sure we had enough and with about the same number of members, we ordered thirty-two again. I know we had more attending (a good thing), but we ran out of pizzas! Yes, some went a little crazy (I saw those plates) when the word “free” was used, but we should have had more. This was a night when “all-you-want” meant just that. There will be more next year. Since I did the ordering, I take the blame. The buck stops here.
At the Annual Meeting, you heard a summary of the survey results. We had ninety-four returns. That is an all-time high. Consider what would happen if half of the citizens in the USA responded to a poll: it would be considered a mandate. That is how the board will view the definitive responses. We have already changed the meeting time for Friday breakfast because that is what the majority wanted. More such actions will follow. For areas where the club was more divided, we will act more cautiously and we will seek further input from you, the membership. You elect a board to run the day-to-day operations of the club, but that board is nothing more than members who are willing to act in your interests.
If your interests are not in line with the majority of the club, you may not see them happen. We will listen to any and every member, but remember that we will only act as we see the majority wishes. Then there is the new board. Yes, there are only two out of the nine members that are totally new to the board, but they show that this is not a “closed” board. We had six good candidates running for three positions, and that was great for the club. This is the last year of my second term on the board and there is no one else remaining from the board I came onto. I am glad that the board changes and brings on new blood, but I regret that all those who did so much are no longer in positions of leadership. So what is my point? Support your board. Help them to do the programs and events you want done. The pay ain’t great (Pay? We ain’t got no stinkin’ pay!) and getting sniped at is a pain, even if they’re not real bullets. Positive input, even if critical, is welcome, but remember that the board is only made up of members who put themselves on the firing line. And that should even be enough gun analogies even for the NRA
'Nuff said, I'm outta here.

Terry E. asked what the president of vice is supposed to do….He also reported there is a lot of cheap land in Florida, just in case we’re interested. He is especially hoping that members will come forward with auto related day cruises.
Dave B. jumped right into the events position. He announced the upcoming events for March, and asked everyone to plan an event. Contact him if you have an idea. The first LOP/Northridge Cruise will be Monday, March 2 at 5 p.m. This will be a monthly event – first Monday of each month.

Old Business
1. Autorama wrap-up – All went well. We didn’t win with our shop rag display, but we didn’t spend a lot of money on it either. The public seemed to like it, and everyone seemed to have a great time.
2. Court case report – looks like he will be going to trial. The felony conference was unsuccessful. April 23 will be the next hearing date.
3. Friday Breakfast- Had 77 present last week. No complaints. We are working on the PA issue. Plus, please be sure to pick up your check when you leave. The waitresses are responsible if tickets get left behind. Remember to tip generously.
New Business
1. Survey – Ron C. reviewed the survey results at the annual meeting. We are using these suggestions as guidance for establishing club policies and procedures for the upcoming year. On items that were close, like adding youth to the club, will require more member input. See results in this newsletter.
2. Bylaws—Nomination Date – We are moving the nomination deadline one week earlier, so that those folks who are running for the board can have a photo and article in the newsletter so that all members can see who’s running and evaluate their qualifications prior to voting.
3. Club radio committee – A committee has been formed to investigate the possibility of replacing the existing club radios. The club has purchased some older models, and we have 6 or so to loan out. If you plan to go on Big Dick’s Tour, and you need a radio, contact Ron C.
4. Saturday, August 22, there will be a Rock & Roll Festival at Korbel Winery. They have invited us to attend as the showcased car club. They have room for 20-35 cars, and cost is $30 per person to attend. There will be a barbeque, 3 bands, and wine tours. Contact Terry E. if you’d like to attend this event.
There being no further business to conduct, the meeting was adjourned at 7:02 p.m.
