June Events Highlighted by Mr. Cruise
Unbelievably, May was the breather in the schedule before the adventures go large for the Roamin Angels.

First up, the Bradshaw Drive-In cruise led by Par excellence window steamers Bill and Karin Robinson has been put on hold. I was looking forward to seeing just how many seniors can be crammed in a '48 Plymouth deluxe trunk. We'll try again later in the year.

Sacramento Drags is rescheduled for June 8th, June 5th Terry and Kathy will lead a group on a Progressive Dinner food quest. Throw in the Adult Soap Box Derby on the 18th, Antique Hunting in Roseville the 19th , Folsom Cruise night on the 22nd , Landon's Cruise to Tahoe on the 23rd, The Mel's Diner Car Show the 24th, Christy's Pik Nik the 25th, and a return to the Big "A" the 30th….and …deep breath…Two Pizza nights and a Mel's Tuesday night cruise. Phew, another day at the gym.

We're just weeks away from The Beach Boys and Thunder Valley July 1st. I'd bet there's a dinner planned somewhere that night. Saturday the 2nd we graze early at the breakfast buffet then jet over to Lake of the Pines for an Independence Day Parade in the a.m. Saturday afternoon you can take your nap and get your CRESTOR fix. Please note that the 2011 Grandpa's Memorial party has been canceled by Ed and Nancy.

Mr. Cruise is still looking for volunteers to display cars at the Nevada County Airfest July 9th. Free entry and about 2000 visitors to see you represent the Roamin Angels.

Finally, His Cruiseness will hold our Cruise/Event Planning Party this fall rather than after the New Year. Pencil in October 15th , location to be determined. I'm hoping the year's events will be fresh in everyone's senior minds so we can fix what may need fixing, build on what went "right" and do budgeting for the board. We can also get a jump on planning New Year events like a Super Bowl Party when the 49ers crush the Raiders.

Thanks to all the May Hosts. You all get stars.
Mr. Cruise

President's message

President Terry

I just got home after spending two days in Reno with an old high school buddy and his wife. Three things occurred to me while I was driving home down the tree lined section of highway 20. First, we live in one of the most beautiful places in the country; second, it's amazing how a couple days away always clears the cobwebs and puts a smile on your face; and three, my old high school buddies are really getting old.

I regret to have to inform the membership that Lynne F. has tendered her resignation as Chairman of the Roamin Angels/Salvation Army Distribution Program. Lynne has done a fantastic job coordinating with the SVA folks and then recruiting and organizing the Club members to provide this vital assistance during the past several Holiday Seasons.

So, we need to find a Club member who will be willing to step up and fill this important position. Mike H. has agreed to switch positions if someone would rather Chair the 2011 Toy Drive committee. If you are at all interested in finding out more about either of these positions please contact Ron C. or I. We need to find someone soon as the plans the 2011 programs are already being discussed.

I will be meeting with the Thunder Valley Casino folks to finalize the Beach Boys Concert plans within the next couple of weeks. All of the 80 tickets have been sold and there are several members on a waiting list. If you want to spend the night at the Springhill Suites by Marriott in Roseville you need to let me know ASAP. The casino has arranged for a special rate of only $49 for that Friday night.

Inside your newsletter you will find a registration form for the Original Mel's -Auburn Mid-Summer Classics Car Show on June 25th. The Roamin Angels are the host car club for this event and there will be sign-up sheets available for the Pizza Nites and I-Hop Breakfast meetings. The Club is responsible for parking cars and helping out with the Poker Run (similar to the Downtown G/V Show). In return, we will receive 1/3rd of the net earnings for our Scholarship Fund plus every Roamin Angels helper gets a "FREE LUNCH". Roamin Angel's cars are eligible for trophies and it should be fun way to put some money back into the Scholarship Fund – PLEASE VOLUNTEER, WE NEED YOUR HELP!!

The 2011 Roamin Angels Scholarship Award Winner has been selected and will be announced after the NU Awards Ceremony. Norm will be putting together a committee to review, analyze, investigate and determine the best option(s) for both the Scholarship Policy and the Scholarship Fund. The Board will review these options and present them to the membership for your review and feedback. I don't expect much to happen with this until after our car show in September. Enough Said – Cruise Safe – Have a Great June.

Catch ya on the flip side,
Terry
