May 12th was the Golden Empire Car Show which Ron C. organized. He was looking for about 12 cars to participate but as 9:30 rolled around there were only 7 cars and one truck. Ron got on his cell phone and tried calling some of the no shows and eventually another car and truck arrived bringing the total display to 10 vehicles. Soon the elderly were brought out one at a time and finally in small groups. Some asked questions and they all seemed to enjoy the show and many picked their favorite car or truck. Seemed like the two who enjoyed the day the most were two young ladies that were workers from the facility as they bounced around, looking at each car and asking someone to take their picture with the cars. They even asked Steve D. if they could sit in his T bucket for a picture. When he tried to get in the picture we all gave him such a bad time that he had to sheepishly walk away. By 11:30 it seemed that all of those who wanted to see the cars had and some of us began leaving. It was a worth while morning and helped brighten the lives of those who are spending their later life at the Care Facility.

For the fifth consecutive year, the Roamin Angels made the day for the residents of Golden Empire Convalescent Hospital. The hospital provided a salad bar lunch, sodas and water. They are also making a donation to our scholarship program. A winner all around.
Those who brought cars were Jerry F., John P., Bob L., Don F., Steve O., Richard G., Ken D., Steve D., Terry C. and yours truly. A special thanks to all who took a few moments out of their day to bring a special joy to those who, indeed, enjoyed it |
