ANNUAL MEETING
February 7, 2012, 6pm
GV Elks Lodge, Grass Valley

December Events by Mr. Cruise

I'm in need of a little precog here…wait…let me start the flux capacitor and get my "Great Carnack" hat on…..Riebes mini show for the Toy Drive is still a day or two away and the Toy Drive itself hasn't happened as of this writing. Deadlines you know.

So, the crystal ball says….we all had a great time! Whooo Hooo!

Many generous members shared their time, efforts, and wallets to make the Christmas Holidays a little brighter for some less fortunate Nevada County Families.

At the top of my thank you list are past members Ken and Ruth McIntyre who provide the Fire engine. Not only did Ken participate on Toy Drive Day, he and Ruth volunteered to drive the engine around town a week before on November 25th to promote the event.

Special thanks to Riebes, and all their employees, especially Jay Cooper and Mike Harlabakis.

How many times have we said that this year? Jay had Reibes' drivers picking up toys from their customers, held a free lunch drawing for people who donated, sponsored a drop box, got KNCO to pump up the promotion and had the employees wearing badges to advertise our Toy Drive!

Thanks to all the merchants who donated goods and activities and all the organizations who step up time and time again.

To all Mr. Cruise's Elves providing sound, popping popcorn, setting up, cleaning up, showing up and participating in the Kettle pairings and Riebes' mini show… Thank You.

Just to leave you with a little perspective on the reality of what you do, one of my employees grew up here without a Father. His Mother struggled with 3 young kids. Christmas was a pretty bleak prospect without help like we provide. He's a fine young man, a Father of his own now, and every toy drive shows up with a pile of repay.

How lucky you and I are.

We have some great stuff planned for 2012. Please come join us for an event or two.

Between now and then enjoy the Holidays and your families.

Mr. Cruise.

See the Club Calendar. If you have an event or cruise you would like to suggest or lead, contact Mr. Cruise (aka Mike H.) at activities@roaminangels.com.

President TerryPresident's message
HO-HO-HO! It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas. As we celebrate this happy season with friends and family we must also mark the closure of yet another great year of fun, cruising, food, wine and lasting friendships.

Last night at the General Meeting the Club presented donation checks to Boy Scout Troop 855, the Bear River High School Band and the ACCC. Additional checks will go to the Grass Valley Firefighters Association and the Grass Valley American Legion Color Guard Unit. The Board has also approved a contribution of $3,000 to offset some of the costs for this year's Roamin Angels Christmas Party and $6,000 to purchase much needed toys, linens and other house ware items for the 2011 Toy Drive. Altogether, over $19,000 of profits from the Car Show has been donated or contributed and yet there is still sufficient money left to fund some of the Club's general administrative expenses and keep our membership dues at a reasonable $40.

The 2011 Toy Drive is fast approaching this weekend at the PG &E maintenance yard on Taylorville Road close to IHop. Mike H. and Ron C. have done an outstanding job of organizing, promoting and advertising this yearly Roamin Angels Event. Riebe's has, once again, stepped up and offered both financial assistance and the help of Jay Cooper on both Friday and Saturday. Ron has secured free advertising from The Union and display posters have been put up in shop windows all over Grass Valley, Nevada City and South County. Thanks to everyone who has helped with the planning and/or participated in this Roamin Angels Yearly Tradition.

A big Thank You to all the Angels who assisted with the Salvation Army Registration Campaign. Pat G. did a tremendous job coordinating this critical function. The next step will be the sorting and distribution process which will begin in just a few days. If you can spare a couple of hours to help out with sorting the toys and food and/or with the distribution effort, please get in contact with either Pat or Ron C..

The Club has recently applied for a Group Membership with CALSTAR which stands for California Shock Trauma Air Rescue. CALSTAR is a nonprofit air ambulance provider serving Northern and Central California. They work cooperatively with medical facilities throughout their service area to transport patients to the most appropriate facility for their medical condition. The local CALSTAR location is in Auburn. Once approved, Club members can purchase a CALSTAR membership for their entire household for just $30 for the first year which is a $15 savings over the individual membership price. Once you join CALSTAR, Club members and anyone in their household will not be charged for any air ambulance transport costs not covered by insurance. More information about this program will be made available in the near future.

Jean H., Edie H., Karin R. and Kathy E. have selected a date and location for the Roamin Angels 50th Anniversary Party which has been approved by the Board. Mark your 2012 calendars for Saturday, May 12. The location is the Holiday Express Inn in Grass Valley. The ladies are now working on selecting a catering service and entertainment for this gala event. If you want to get involved or have any ideas on how to make this a party to remember, please contact Jean, Edie, Karin or Kathy. Much more to come on this.

As we say goodbye to 2011, I want to thank Ron C., Sheila A., Karen S., Edie H., Mike H., Dave B. and Norm D. for their outstanding service to the Club as members of the Board. It has been my pleasure and honor to serve as the President of the Best Car Club in California. I hope that each and every member has a wonderful and joyous Christmas as we look forward to 2012 and celebrating 50 years of Roamin Angels history. Have A Great December.

CATCH YA ON THE FLIP SIDE,
TERRY
