Most of our radios have buttons but we have no idea what they do or mean. So let me decode them for you.

club radiosSCN: Push this button and your radio will scan all of the channels on your radio usless you push the –
D/A: which deletes (D) or adds (A) scanning one or more of your radio's channels. ie: Listening to other pods.
TA: Allows you to find a channel by number...helpful to fire and police but does nothing for us.
LO: This button will conserve your battery by using a lower transmission power. Great for the Car Show but keep the power up while cruizin'.

If your radio has a window in it, Ch1 is RA1 or Roman Angels One. POD 1 is pod 1 ect. The new channel we put in your radio is the last channel on your radio and it is called FRS 1. It is officially called Family Radio Service which is the frequencies used by the inexpensive radios from KMart, WalMat, or Costco. If your radio has four of more channels (window or not) the last channel will allow you to communicate with these hand held radios. Those radios will work with your radio if the (cheapie) radio it is set on channel 1. This is a great benefit as you can now use your radios around the house or property. It gives members a cost reasonable alternative.

Battery care: Rule #1 Don't store the radio in the charger!!! I reccomend the battery be stored in the frig. If your battery was on for a few minutes (or hours) don't recharge it- let the battery go far down before you recharge it. A battery's life is measured in cycles not necessarily in time. Batteries "wear out" when they get over heated (left in the charger) or recycled when the battery still has lots of juice still in them.

Hope this helps! – Dave G.
