At the General Meeting in January, the prospect of getting a building fund was presented to the Board. Per the Bylaws, the Board elected to have an ad hoc committee formed and to report back (its findings) to the Board.
Years ago, then VP Chris M., Mike Z. and others had a vision for the Roamin Angels to own their own clubhouse. A facility where we could meet, have breakfast and dinners, work on club projects and even rent it out to other individuals/groups for their needs. Unfortunately, funding was not available at the time the focus was aimed at establishing a 'world class' car show. So in 2002, Chris M. and crew moved the car show from Rollins Lake to the Nevada County Fairgrounds. 2002's turnout was better than expected but the word got out and in 2003, it was unbelievable. The rest is history.
It is the belief of this newly formed committee that some of the hard earned proceeds from the car show should go back to the Roamin Angels members. Supporting the outside groups - such as the Boy Scouts/ Softball teams/etc. - that help make our car show great is also very important. The committee has laid out a three year goal to be able to start looking for a building. In the meantime, issues of funding, insurance, finance, food and beverage licenses need to be resolved. Also, the minimum requirement for the 'Clubhouse' needs to be established.
This is a large undertaking that may not excite some members, but by establishing an actual 'Building Fund', this is probably a doable project and a benefit to the Club and to the community. We will keep everyone informed of our findings.
The Building Feasibility Committee:

Along with this project, this same group wants to put on a monthly (or thereabouts) tour of a business that would be useful in the restoration of your vehicles. Stay tuned...Larry
